Mediation

Sometimes, even when you don't expect it, a resolution is just right around the corner.  It is not uncommon for difficult, stubborn issues to get resolved in mediation.  And often it can feel like a ton of bricks lifted off of you when you walk out of a day of mediation with an agreed resolution in hand.

Mediation is a non-litigation choice for settling disputes.  This means that YOU decide when and how to settle.  And, yes, it happens all the time--and it's a good thing!

How does mediation work?  Very simply, the parties to a dispute agree to a date and time to meet with a qualified neutral professional (the Mediator), who's job it is to have the parties come up with creative strategies that address and resolve the problems at hand.  A good mediator does not tell you what to do--YOU DECIDE.  A good mediator does not order the resolution--YOU DECIDE the resolution.  But beware, a good mediator might just pull out of you a fantastic idea or plan that sets every party on the right track to a favorable resolution.

The mediation process usually can be done in a day's time shortly after reasonable and meaningful disclosure and exchange of information happens.  And the process of mediation can usually take place at a fraction of the cost of going to court.  Who wouldn't want to settle a case cheaper and quicker with a resolution that is crafted by the parties themselves?

Mr. Ogilvie is a qualified mediator with advanced mediation training and experience.  His skills enable him to further the resolution process with proven results.  Ask how your case or issues might be right for mediation, or ask how we can mediate a dispute for you.

Mediations are often held in our office in Denton, Texas, but can be held in appropriate facilities nearer to where the parties are.

Pricing structures vary for complexity of the issues and actual time spent in mediation sessions.  Please ask for estimates or a range of expected fees.
